Sports Administration
Students interested in administrative careers within the ever-increasing arena of the sports industry can earn a Bachelor of Science in sport administration. This degree focuses on the business and social aspects of sport administration as well as the basics of a number of different individual and team sports. Faculty members hail from a variety of different backgrounds, providing instruction backed by immense skills and industry experience.
Professional opportunities are plentiful upon graduation in areas such as facility and event management, sports media, legal and ethical regulation, marketing and coaching. Students in the sport administration program gain knowledge from a combination of classroom instruction and practical training in topics relevant to careers in this field.
Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration
With a Bachelor of Science in sport administration from SIU, successful graduates are exceptionally prepared for leadership and administrative roles in the sports industry. Sport administration students are immersed in courses focused on the cultural, social and managerial aspects of sports. The curriculum also provides hands-on training in laboratories focused on exercise physiology, cardiovascular control, biomechanics and group fitness and training.
Master of Science, Kinesiology
Students who graduate with a degree in sport administration often go on to earn an advanced degree with a Master of Science in kinesiology. This graduate program offers specializations in exercise science or sports studies for future careers in the administrative, managerial, legal and sociological roles in corporate fitness, clinical centers and professional sports.
Student Organization
The Organization of Sport and Exercise Science is the Registered Student Organization (RSO) available to all kinesiology undergraduate and graduate students at SIU. The mission of the RSO is to provide guidance and camaraderie to students preparing for careers in sport administration and exercise science through professional advisement, networking opportunities and updates on current field events.
