Degree Requirements
The College Student Personnel program entails a common core curriculum of 12 hours, covering various aspects of higher education such as organizational administration and student affairs. Additionally, students engage in educational research and tailor their studies with a cognate, while gaining practical experience through professional development and a capstone project.

College Student Personnel: Designed for aspiring student affairs administrators and educators, this dynamic program offers a comprehensive 36-credit-hour curriculum. Certificate in College Teaching
This post-baccalaureate teaching certificate targets graduate students with a master’s degree, emphasizing postsecondary education. Concurrent Degree
M.S.ED./J.D. CONCURRENT DEGREES: This concurrent degree merges higher education and law, equipping students with interdisciplinary skills applicable to both fields. Internship

Internships, distinct from assistantships, must be approved by advisors and pursued outside of existing professional settings. While Student Affairs at SIU Carbondale offers internships, students may seek waivers with relevant professional experience.
Capstone
Students in the Community College Teaching concentration demonstrate research skills through a research paper or thesis, while College Student Personnel concentration students complete a capstone. Capstone options include a research paper, thesis, or EAHE 546: Co-Curricular Assessment. Students must fulfill specific requirements and committee memberships for each option, including successful completion of a final examination.
